Who Is?

Tom van der Zaal is an award winning saxophonist, composer and entrepeneur from The Netherlands. His frequent appearance on international venues makes him one of Hollands most visable young and international upcoming artist. Besides being a bandleader and sideman, van der Zaal is one of the founders of The Hague’s leading jazzfestival ‘’Jazz en Route’’, which takes place in the city center of The Hague and features de ‘’crème de la crème’’ of the national and international jazz scene.

Tom released his debut album ''Introducing Tom van der Zaal - Time Will Tell'' featuring the immaculate New York guitarist Peter Bernstein in 2019. Quotes from leading magazines are:

Van der Zaal has shared the stage with artists such as: Peter Bernstein, Willie Jones III, Greg Hutchinson, Gary Bartz, Justin Robinson (Roy Hargrove), Giveton Gelin, James Carter, Slide Hampton, Joe Farnsworth and many more.

Currently sharing his newest album ´Sketchbook of Dreams´ to the world, which is a cross-over influenced by jazz, classical and Brazilian music. The project features a 16 piece orchestra and is a distinct musical journey with cinematic features without losing the identity of the Dutch saxophonist. The music on this album has the power to create expression in such extend, it almost becomes visual. Sketchbook of Dreams is availalble on all platforms!
